KEY BETS - Horse to be 1st or 2nd counts.

  • How many times has your horse ended in the second box ??

A Key Bet is if you back a horse that can come first or second. It is worked out as a percentage of the horse's price depending on the number of horses in the race.
To qualify for a Key Bet the horse must be backed for a win, with the same stake amount!
Prices are worked out as follows:

9 and > 40%
8 30%
7 25%
6 20%
5 10%
4 and < Nil

We also lay Key Bet All To Comes, which will be worked out in each leg. In case of scratchings, deductions will apply when applicable and the price will be re-calculated in every leg, depending on the amount of runners and the amount of horses priced up on the specific race.

ALL TO COME ( ATC ) BETS - On win , places.

Create a snowball effect by selecting from 2 up to 5 horses in different races to win .
Eg. Tvl Race 1 no 3 @ 4/1 on to
Ntl Race 4 no 8 @ 2/1 on to
Cpt Race 1 no 5 @ 1/1

Price will be 29/1 thus spending R 100 will earn you R2900 if all three runners win.

Hereby you can pick from 3 to 5 runners which will result in different multiple all-to-come bets. Win & place bets available.
TRIOS - 3 runners which result in 4 ATC bets.
YANKEES - 4 runners which result in 11 ATC bets.
CANADIAN - 5 runners which result in 26 ATC bets.

Very important to note is that if you place a bet with us, you don't affect the dividends, as your bets do not go on a tote pool system.
  • We lay all types of Open Bets, including Wins, Places, Swingers, Exacta's, Quartets, Trifecta's, Course doubles, Jackpot, Pick Six and PA's.
  • We lay Place All To Comes, calculated on the Open bet place pay-out.
  • We pay Saftote dividends for Open bets on all meetings.
  • We have a limit of R60 000 per winning bet, on all open bets.
  • Important to note is that our limit is most often greater than a tote pool net amount.
  • As you don't effect the dividends and your bets don't go on a tote pool system, we are obliged to deduct and pay 6% betting tax on all winning bets.
